JTMM (Goit) announces Terai bandh, vows to foil CA elections

Less than a week after another faction of Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha (JTMM) ended its two-weeks-long prohibition of non-Terai transporters in the Terai section of highways, the faction of JTMM led by Jai Krishna Goit has announced three-day Terai bandh on January 12-14.

The Goit faction has stated that it would not allow the elections of Constituent Assembly (CA) in Terai region, reports Nepal Samacharpatra daily.

In a press statement he issued on Wednesday, Goit has asked Nepali rulers to leave Terai and has demanded that indigenous people of Terai be allowed to run army, police and administration in Terai region. He has also asked that revenue collected from Terai be utilized for Terai development and has demanded an end to infiltration of Nepalis into the region.

Stating that Terai region does not belong to any King of the Shah dynasty, Goit has remarked that Nepal has no right to rule the region.

He has urged people of Terai not to fall for the conspiracy of CA hatched by Nepalis and have called on political parties, organizations, intellectuals and individuals of Terai region to organize a roundtable conference to write new constitution for Terai.

This is one of the most threatening statements issued by Goit. There are two factions of JTMM – one led by Goit and another led by Jwala Singh – which are active in violent activities in eastern Terai region. The JTMM actually is a splinter of the Maoists. nepalnews.com sd Jan 04 07
