Prachanda for promulgating interim constitution by Jan 9
Maoist chairman Prachanda has said that they agreed to allow the reestablishment of displaced police posts and return of village development committee (VDC) secretaries to their respective villages only after the government agreed to issue the interim constitution by 9th January.
Talking to locals in Charikot of Dolakha district this morning, Maoist Supremo Prachanda said that they will be compelled to start another Jana Aandolan (People’s Movement) if the government does not promulgate the interim constitution, form interim legislature and announce the dates of the CA polls by the end of Nepali month Paush (mid-January) as per the agreement.
He however made it clear that their movement will be a peaceful one and there will be participation from members of civil society and general people.
He informed that they will not leave the negotiation table even if they go for the second people’s movement.
Answering queries of journalists on whether the interim constitution is complete, Prachanda said though he can’t say that it is complete, the constitution has made the Nepali people sovereign for the first time. nepalnews.com pb Jan 05 07
