President of Rastriya Janashakti Party (RJP) Surya Bahadur Thapa has expressed bitter surprise over the decision of the eight parties to go ahead with the finalised interim constitution without making any changes despite demands for the same raised from many quarters.

"When I heard criticism about the concentration of power in Prime Minister from a responsible person, I had thought they would make some changes. But unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be happening," Thapa said referring to the criticism by PM Girija Prasad Koirala over the constitution. He was addressing a gathering of his party workers in Kathmandu.

Thapa hoped that the parliament will, at least, make necessary amendments before the interim constitution is promulgated.

Likewise, Thapa has expressed doubts that the forthcoming Constituent Assembly polls would be fair. He was indicating to the attack against some monarchist parties by students of the eight parties. "If the CA election is not held in a fair manner, the nation will meet with a dangerous accident," he warned. nepalnews.com sd Jan 12 07
