Parliamentary probe committee asks government to produce Thapa
The parliamentary committee formed to probe the incidents of killing of civilians in Nagarkot and Belbari has asked the government to produce former Home Minister Kamal Thapa for interrogation.
Thapa is said to be refusing to record his statement at the committee. He is said to have refused the call (to present himself) made by the committee thrice already. On Friday, Home Secretary Umesh Mainali said the government had relayed the message of the committee to Thapa.
"As per the committee's instructions, we informed Thapa," he told reporters. Mainali added that the ministry will do as the committee instructs.
Meanwhile, the committee is said to have asked the government to compulsorily produce Thapa for interrogation by this afternoon.
In Nagarkot incident that occurred a year ago, 11 civilians had been killed when a soldier of Nepali Army opened indiscriminate fire at a local fair.
