Mainali elected NBA president
Senior advocate Bishwokanta Mainali and advocate Raman Kumar Shrestha have been elected as the president and general secretary of the Nepal Bar Association (NBA) respectively.
Manali, who led the progressive panel, defeated Basanta Ram Bhandari of the democratic panel. Shrestha, also a progressive panel’s candidate, defeated Upendra Kesari Neupane.
Similarly, Hari Prasad Upreti and Sabita Bhandari, both progressives, have been elected as the vice-chairman from the central development region and treasurer.
Counting of votes was still underway until 6:30 pm. Formal announcement of the complete election results is expected later in the evening.
Voting for the 17-member Bar central committee was conducted on Saturday. nepalnews.com mk Jan 17 07
