NRN-A concerned over terai unrest

The Non Residential Nepali Association (NRN-A) has expressed serious concern over the current violence in the terai region.

A press release issued by the NRN-International Coordination Committee said the NRN-A is concern over recent violent activities in the terai region at a time when the country was moving towards peace and stability by holding the election of the constituent assembly.

The statement urged the government to call all protesting terai groups for talks to address all reasonable demands raised by Madhesi people which the interim constitution failed to address.

Stating that the incident of vandalism and arson will only help fundamentalist forces, the NRN-A urged protesting groups to immediately stop violent activities.

The NRN-A also urged both the government and protesting groups to find a solution to the current impasse through talks as history has proved that only peaceful movement will ensure civil rights and empower democracy.

The NRN-A has also expressed readiness to assist in the process of finding the solution of the terai region through talks.
