Maoists warn of closing down Kavre and Sindhupalchowk over Dolakha issue
The district units of Maoists of Kavre and Sindhupalchowk have warned to impose indefinite strike in the two districts demanding immediate end to what they call as 'administrative repression in Dolakha' against their comrades.
While rest of the political parties have condemned the Maoists for physically assaulting the Chief District Officer Uddhav Bahadur Thapa of Dolakha district on Sunday, the Maoists have defended their action wholly.
In a joint statement they issued on Tuesday, Deshbandhu and Santosh, Maoist in-charge of Kavre and Sindhupalchowk districts, respectively, have condemned 'anti-republican move by the Dolakha administration.' They have said that the administration unleashed repression by arresting their comrades who had taken action against regressive elements.
The Sunday's incident occurred after Maoist-affiliated Young Communist League (YCL) cadres gheraoed Dolakha District Administration Office and assaulted CDO Thapa for detaining their comrade Bishal Khadka, who was arrested on charge of publicly assaulting one Sundar Khadka, a local leader of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP).
Meanwhile, the talks between Maoist leaders and CDO Khadka broke down on Tuesday after the latter refused to let free all the 32 Maoist cadres arrested for resorting to vandalism on Sunday. Thapa said he will let them free only after launching legal probe against their actions. nepalnews.com sd Jul 31 07
