MPs deplore bomb scare at civil society leaders’ residences
Members of the legislative parliament have expressed shock and condemnation over the bomb scare at the residences of civil society leaders Dr. Devendra Raj Pandey and Krishna Pahadi.
Speaking during the special hour of Friday’s sitting of the parliament, lawmakers demanded a high-level inquiry into the bomb scare at the residences of the civil society leaders.
Lawmaker Ram Chandra Poudel denounced the terror threat and said the act could be part of a conspiracy to disrupt the forthcoming constituent assembly elections. He also demanded tough action against those behind the incident.
Another lawmaker Pradeep Nepal said the plot to bomb the houses of Dr. Pandey and Pahadi was an attack against the embryonic ‘democratic republic’ in Nepal. He said those behind the act must be tracked down and brought to justice.
Lawmaker MP Saud also said the planting of bombs inside the residences of civil society leaders smacked of conspiracy from reactionary elements. He claimed that reactionaries had been trying creating terror in different parts of the country.
Similarly, Malla K Sundar claimed that pro-palace elements were behind the bomb scare at the residences of Dr. Pandey and Pahadi. Action should be taken against the King to thwart reactionary plots in future, he added.
Police had discovered a pressure cooker bomb at the compound of Dr Pandey’s house in Bishalnagar and a crude bomb at the premises of Pahadi’s quarter in Gaushala last evening. Later police had disposed off the explosives safely. nepalnews.com mk Mar 09 07
