Sitaula urges police force to work with high morale
Home Minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula has urged the police force to work with high morale in the task of maintaining law and order in society and control crime in the transitional period.
Giving instructions to high-ranking police officials at the Mahendra Police Club this morning, the Home Minister said the police administration was on top priority with the government and was committed to provide all support required to strengthen it.
He also directed the police administration to remain alert against “forces” operating against the peace process and the Constituent Assembly (CA) elections.
He also urged the police not to hesitate while carrying out its duty to maintain peace and security.
”The state will take responsibility for any and every incident that might occur while the security personnel are fulfilling and performing their duty … no level of the police force needs to hesitate,” Sitaula said.
He said that the police organisation should not feel humiliated as the government, political parties, legislature-parliament and the people were cooperative to the law enforcing institution.
Sitaula vowed that all the vacated police outposts would be restored soon admitting there was some problems in parts of the Terai region due to Madhesi movement.
He further said that as the people are not satisfied with the performance of police force, it [police force] has to work efficiently to win the people’s heart.
Speaking at the same programme, Home secretary Umesh Mainali asked the police force to be accountable to the people by maintaining organisational impartiality and professionalism.
Speaking at the same programme, Inspector General of Police Om Bikram Rana said that the police force is committed to work as per the directive of the democratic government to strengthen democracy.
Referring to the planting of explosives at the homes of civil society leaders Krishna Pahadi and Devendra Raj Pandey, Rana said that the police administration was taking the incident “very seriously”.
