Japan provides food aid to Nepal
The Government of Japan has extended a grant assistance of Rs.182,700,000 to the Government of Nepal as food aid with the objective of enabling the government to procure rice and supply it to the needy people living in districts that are facing food deficit.
A press release issued by the Japanese Embassy in Kathmandu said, Japanese ambassador to Nepal Tsutomu Hiraoka and secretary at the Ministry of Finance Vidyadhar Mallik signed and exchanged notes on behalf of their respective governments amidst a function on Thursday.
Speaking at the signing programme, Japanese ambassador Hiraoka expressed wishes that the food aid would be of assistance to the Government of Nepal and ease the difficulties faced by people in the affected areas. nepalnews.com pb Mar 15 07
