Sahara Club Pokhara stuns Army to enter semis

Sahara Club Pokhara stunned Tribhuwan Army Club 3-1 in tie breaker to enter the semifinals of the 9th Budha Subba Gold Cup Football Tournament in Dharan on Monday.

After playing goal-less draw till regulation time and extra time, both teams wrestled for spot kick battle that saw three beautiful saves from Sahara goalie Bishal Shrestha earn memorable win for Pokhreli team.

Sahara played attacking game from the start as its main striker Anil Gurung wasted two early chances in the first half. Later in the second half, Sahara maintained their pressure on the Army and were nearly on the goals in the 82nd minute but Rajan Adhikari wasted one after another.

In the extra time, Anil Gurung could have scored but he was quite late to beat goalie Choudhary.

Raju Tamang netted spot kick for Army while Chun Bahadur Thapa, Ram Kumar Biswash and Chakra Tamang squandered their kicks while Umesh Upreti and Govind Thapa netted spot kick for Sahara.
