NDF supports Gukhas' move
Nepal Democratic Forum (NDF) in the UK has asked all participate in the sit-in programme scheduled by ex-Gurkhas in London this week.
In a statement on Saturday, president of the NDF Ang Kaljang Lama has expressed full support and cooperation to the programmes organised by the Gurkhas for equality and justice in military service.
The ex-army groups have announced series of protest programmes in UK for this week, to begin from Monday, March 26.
The British Gurkhas have expressed dissatisfaction over the announcement of the government to provide equal benefits at par with British soldiers with July 1, 1997 as the cut off date. The have demanded that all Gurkhas who served in the British forces should be treated equally.
Some 30 representatives of the Gurkha Army Ex-Servicemen Organisation (GAESO), British Gurkha Welfare Society (BGWS) and United British Gurkha Ex-army Association, Nepal (UBGEAN) would picket (gherao) the office of the British Prime Minister Tony Blair in Downing Street from March 30. nepalnews.com ia Mar 25 07
