'A People War' on nationwide exhibition tour

A People War

About 70 selected photographs from the recently published picture book 'A People War', will be on a nationwide exhibition tour this week.

Nepa-laya, the publisher of the book, is organising the exhibitions to disseminate the message of peace to a much wider audience. The traveling show will display pictures that show the human and material cost of ten years of conflict and help bring lasting peace in the country.

Nepa-laya is partnering with local chapters of the Federation of Nepalese Journalists to also organise interaction programmes for local media and photojournalists in all ten venues of the exhibition.

"Working on this book has opened my eyes to the role of media in conflict resolution and reconciliation," says Kunda Dixit, who envisioned the book.

The exhibition will start from Jiri on March 31 and will go through Chautara, Lahan, Ilam, Narayanghat, Nepalgunj, Dhangadi, Tansen, and Pokhara before concluding in Kathmandu.

Entry to the exhibitions is free and special arrangements have been made to distribute limited copies of the book to schools and libraries. nepalnews.com ia Mar 27 07
