Japan to send six SDF personnel

The Japanese government on March 27 decided to dispatch six arms monitors to help the United Nations Mission in Nepal (UNMIN) on the basis of the International Peace Cooperation Law.

At the request of the UN, the Government of Japan decided to dispatch six officers of the Self Defense Forces (SDF) as unarmed arms monitors, a statement by Japanese embassy in Kathmandu said on Wednesday.

"This dispatch will greatly contribute to further strengthening the bilateral relations between Japan and Nepal as assistance to the peace-building efforts in Nepal, and will play an important role in securing peace and stability in the South Asian region," the statement further said.

The monitors would arrive Nepal in April. nepalnews.com ia Mar 28 07
