Over dozen injured in Bardiya clash

At least a dozen people were injured when the Armed Police Force (APF) used force during a protest programme in Sanoshree Taratal, Bardiya district.

The APF men resorted to using force after the Young Communist League (YCL) activists who were protesting the deployment of security forces for border security, pelted stones at them, reports said. Landless squatters and freed Kamaiyas were also involved in the protest saying the APF was trying to evacuate them from the area in order to establish a godown of the Cotton Development Committee.

Following the violence, indefinite curfew has been imposed in Ward No 3, 4 and 5 of Sanoshree VDC from 2:00 pm.

At least half a dozen people were seriously injured in the incident. nepalnews.com mk May 02 07
