Cops, YCL seize 10 ton red sandalwood

Acting on the tip-off by the Young Communist League (YCL), the policemen raided a house in Imadole of Lalitpur district on Wednesday night and seized 10 ton of red sandalwood.

The activists of YCL led by its valley commander Sagar and police officer Upendra Kanta Aryal reached to the house of one Prithvi Man Gamal at 10:45 pm and seized the sandalwood.

Later Forest and Soil Conservation Minister Matrika Yadav and senior police officers reached the place. Police have arrested one Raju Shrestha.

Reports say the red sandalwood was being stored in the place for the last three weeks and smugglers were preparing to take it to China. The seized sandalwood will be handed over to forest department. nepalnews.com sd May 10 07
