Nepalis in Australia ask to end deadlock

Nepalis in Australia have expressed concern over the political deadlock prevailing in the country and urged the parties to finalise date for the constituent assembly polls at the earliest.

Nepalis Forum for Human Rights and People's Democracy, the organisation of the Nepalis in Australia, also expressed its worry over the growing activism of the foreign diplomats posted in Nepal inserting influences in taking political decisions.

The organisation called on the political parties and all concerned to take the issue seriously. It further said the report of the Rayamajhi commission has to be made public to initiate actions against the culprits identified by the commission.

Drawing attention towards the deteriorating human rights situation of the country, the organisation said no Nepalis should be a target of attacks or be killed on pretext of ideological differences.

It also demanded for a commission to identify the criminal activities carried out during the period of insurgency and bring them under the law.

It further said the issue of the Terai has to be solved and the Nepali Diaspora should be given the right to vote during the constituent assembly polls. nepalnews.com ia May 10 07
