PM asks NA to keep high morale
Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala has asked Nepali Army (NA) to work by keeping high morale.
Lauding the latest activities by the NA, he said the army was demonstrating exemplary works in the changed political context.
Prime Minister made these remarks on Friday morning while inaugurating the Rehabilitation Centre of NA. The centre is located at Ichangu Narayan in Kathmandu.
Chief of Army Staff General Rookmangud Katawal also addressed the inaugural function and said that the Centre will be useful to help victims of conflict and natural disasters.
According to NA official, the centre is being built at the cost of Rs 92.5 million. Around Rs 22.5 million have already been spent in the first phase construction. The centre's construction is expected to be complete in a year
The rehab centre is meant for both army and civilians and its chief objective is to give proper treatment to those who are injured, mutilated or going through psychological trauma, said an NA official.
Furthermore, it also imparts skill oriented training so that the person, after leaving the centre, is able to earn his or her own livelihood, hence making it easy to reintegrate them back in the society, the official added.
He said that the centre is a part of army's social welfare programme. The rehab centre, once operational, would accommodate 50 persons and its capacity would continuously be expanded. nepalnews.com sd/ag May 25 07
