Parliament session stalled till May 30

Amid continuing disputes and differences, the parliament session has been once again stalled without even commencing.

The Parliament Secretariat, on Saturday afternoon, issued a notice stating that the session has been suspended till May 30.

Although it was scheduled to begin at 1 pm on Saturday, the continuing meeting of eight parties and the protests by Madhesi MPs forced it to be suspended again. The meeting is also giving serious consideration to the issue of parliament impasse.

The Madhesi MPs have said that they will allow the parliament session to run if the ongoing eight party meeting in Baluwatar comes up with a decision to fulfill their demand for revocation of recommendations by the Electoral Constituency Delineation Commission (ECDC).

The meeting of Madhesi MPs, on Saturday morning, decided that Friday's cabinet decision to form a judicial commission to probe alleged atrocities during Madhes unrest is positive and partially fulfills their demands.

According to MP Uma Kanta Chaudhary, they will allow the parliament to run if 'favourable' decision is made by the eight parties.
