Private schools reach pact with agitators

Private schools have signed 18-point pact with agitating teachers and students.

The Private and Boarding School Organisation of Nepal (PABSON) and National-PABSON reached the understanding with the Educational Republican Forum and Maoist-affiliated student wing to end the lock ups of accounts and administration sections in private schools.

As per the pact, the bigger schools will provide equal or more salaries and benefits to teachers than that mentioned in Education Act while smaller schools will fix the scale in consultation with management committee.

Likewise, the private schools have agreed not to demand fees on titles other than those mentioned in Regulation. They also agreed not to demand re-admission fee. They have agreed to allocate 10 percent seat as scholarship to students of backward communities. There will be at least 40 percent lady teachers at primary level.

The schools will adjust the studies lost during the recent 11-day strike in winter and summer vacation and will charge fees for that period.
