RPP to continue stalling parliament
Despite optimism by Speaker Subas Nemwang, the holding of parliament session on Wednesday appears uncertain as Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has said it will continue to stall the House.
Talking to journalists, on Tuesday, at a function organised to mark 18th establishment anniversary of RPP, party president Pashupati SJB Rana said they will allow the House to run only if demands including revoking the report of Electoral Constituency Delineation Commission are implemented.
In recent weeks, MPs of RPP and Madhes region have stalled the House.
Rana also said that he wants the government to take action against the vandals who attacked his party leaders in Parbat recently. A few days ago, Maoist activists had stormed into RPP gathering and thrashed its leaders in Parbat.
Meanwhile, Speaker Nemwang said that he is hopeful that the House will run on Wednesday. "The basis for understanding is being created. So I am hopeful," he said.
The meeting of eight parties has also given top priority to resolving the parliament impasse. The parties have agreed to let the House run. The Maoists, who started the obstruction in the parliament initially, have said they will now allow it to run. nepalnews.com sd May 30 07
