Dutch climber to attempt Mt Everest in his ‘shorts’

The world’s tallest peak Mt. Everest seems to be attracting not only experienced mountaineers and novices alike but sometimes, well, quirky people too. Popular by his name of ‘Him Manav’ (snow man), Vim Hwalf, a climber from Holland, has announced he would climb Mt Everest in his ‘shorts’.

The Dutch climber had been preparing for this daring but stupendous feat from quite some time now and in his first attempt a month ago he reached the height of 24,248 ft of the 29,028 ft tall summit all but in his shorts and mountain gears, reports say.

Because of his ability to easily withstand extreme conditions in the mountains he started to become known as ‘Him Manav’ among his friends.

He told a local FM radio station that failure in the first attempt had in no way deterred him from this daredevil act and that he was willing to take a last shot at climbing the world’s tallest peak in his shorts. Good luck! nepalnews.com ag May 31 07
