Seven party leaders meeting to forge consensus
The top leaders of seven parties are preparing for what could be their final attempt to forge consensus to end the political deadlock.
The leaders are expected to gather in Baluwatar, Saturday morning, for 'serious deliberations,' according to UML leader Jhal Nath Khanal.
The communist parties UML, Maoists, People's Front and Unity Center are also meeting separately to avert the situation of voting, which they said would be a divisive exercise.
On Saturday, too, the UML and Maoist leaders had met but could not reach to any conclusion.
The special session of the parliament will resume on 2 pm on Sunday. It was suspended for two days on Friday.
Meanwhile, Congress leader Arjun Narsingh KC has said that the NC will not agree for 'immediate republic' demand. It will also not agree with fully proportional representation based election system, he said.
The NC has, however, agreed to go for the declaration of republic subject to its implementation once the elected Constituent Assembly approves it. It has also proposed to express commitment to hold CA election within 2064 BS (mid-April, 2008). nepalnews.com sd nov 04 07
