PM alerts APF to stay prepared for election security
A day after Home Minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula announced the government's plan to deploy security forces in a few days, Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala has alerted the security officers to become ready to shoulder up the responsibility of maintaining election security.
Speaking at the inauguration of a workshop organised by the Home Ministry for officers of the Armed Police Forces (APF) at its headquarters Hallchowk, Kathmandu, Saturday morning, PM Koirala also urged the parties and the civil society leaders to help government in maintaining peace and security ahead of the polls.
He asked the APF officers to focus on maintaining security so the voters could cast their votes without fearlessly in the polls. Koirala also stressed that the elections should be held in the scheduled time to maintain credibility of Nepal in the international community.
The PM hinted that government was gearing up for massive security arrangements for the elections.
