13 die after consuming tainted liquor in Janakpur
At least 13 people have died after drinking spurious liquor in the outskirts of Janakpur in the last three days.
Three people including a woman, who had fallen sick after consuming the booze bought from a local distillery, died Saturday while one person had died last night. Reports said three others have been admitted at the Janakpur Zonal Hospital for treatment and are said to be in a critical condition.
Nine deaths were reported on Thursday and Friday. The villagers had bought the liquor made of rice and millet from a distillery located at Machhabazar area.
Laboratory tests have showed heavy contamination of chemical fertilizer in the liquor.
According to reports, police have arrested five persons in connection with brewing and selling spurious liquor. nepalnews.com mk Sept 01 07
