Docs protest govt ‘apathy’ towards their demands; warn of stern agitation
Doctors around the country are wearing black bands during their duty hours for three days from today as a symbol of protest against government’s ‘indifference’ towards their 13-point demands, security being the main demand.
The Nepal Medical Association (NMA) has said the government has not responded to its demands despite repeated appeal. According to the association, doctors will stage sit-in programme at the main entrance of the Ministry of Health and Population coming Wednesday and Thursday.
The association assured that services in hospitals would not be disrupted during the protests, but warned of “strong agitation” if the demands continue to go unheard.
Earlier too, the NMA had asked the government to take stringent measures to check increasing attacks on doctors on duty. nepalnews.com mk Sept 02 07
