MJF-dissidents spat deepens, stand for and against election

Even as the central committee meeting of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF) chaired by Upendra Yadav expelled the four dissident leaders, the latter have challenged the legitimacy of the deal signed by Yadav and the government.

The central committee meeting of Yadav-led MJF held in Kathmandu endorsed the 22-point deal signed between MJF and the government on August 30. The meeting expelled Kishore Kumar Bishwas, Bhagyanath Gupta, Jitendra Sonal and Ram Kumar Sharma.

The meeting also decided to take part in the Constituent Assembly (CA) election and has instructed party district committees to prepare list of candidates for the election.

Meanwhile, addressing a press meet in Rajbiraj, dissident leader Bishwas claimed that Yadav did not represent the forum when he signed the deal with the government. He reiterated demands for republic declaration and fully proportional representation based election system before CA can take place.

Bishwas said his organisation will make efforts for a joint agitation with other groups active in Terai. nepalnews.com sd Sep 05 07
