NC CWC meet concludes; Koirala and Deuba to have final say on party unification
The central working committee (CWC) of the Nepali Congress concluded on Thursday, giving authority to party president Girija Prasad Koirala to take final decision on the unification with the NC (Democratic).
According to NC leader Arjun Narsingh K.C, Koirala will hold a meeting with NC-D president Sher Bahadur Deuba on Friday in an attempt to finalise unification process.
Yesterday’s CWC meeting had decided to call the meeting of the all-powerful Mahasamiti (general council) Sept 23-24 to endorse the party’s manifesto for the upcoming constituent assembly polls.
The draft manifesto presented by the Election Manifesto Drafting Committee has adopted federal democratic republican system as the main election agenda of the party.
Separate CWC meetings of the two Congress parties yesterday had discussed the unification process, which continues to hang fire despite the top leaders claiming to be prepared for a merger right away. nepalnews.com mk Sep 06 07
