NA to support APF during polls
The two-day annual meet of the army officers held in Kathmandu on Thursday and Friday has decided to extend possible support to the Armed Police Force (APF) during the constituent assembly polls scheduled for November 22.
According to an officer of the Directorate of Public Relation (DPR) of the Nepali Army, the meeting of all the divisional chiefs and generals available in Kathmandu has endorsed the decision to widen its network and relation with other security agencies and concerned authorities so as to help improve the security situation ahead of the polls.
The NA said it was ready to shoulder the responsibility given to it and act according to the orders from the government. The meet also discussed ways how it can support the APF and Nepal police deployed at the election booths.
During the meeting, the divisional heads from across the country had briefed about the prevailing security situation and activities being carried out under their jurisdiction.
Though it was a regular annual meet of the army officers, it has been looked with much interest owing to approaching elections and unimproved security situation in the country. nepalnews.com ia Sep 07 07
