Prachanda says election still uncertain
Maoist chairman Prachanda has said that November 22 election for Constituent Assembly (CA) is still uncertain.
Talking to reporters at Ranjha airport in Nepalgunj on Saturday, Prachanda said he was concerned that the election will end up as a 'drama.'
Speaking at the airport, Prachanda said he was glad that Nepali Congress (NC), too, has decided to opt for republic. He said the pressure by his party and the presentation of 22-point demands could have compelled the NC to take the decision.
Prachanda reached Bardiya district later on Saturday to train his party cadres. He instructed them to prepare for the agitation to press for their 22-point demands.
The Maoist leaders have repeatedly threatened to unleash agitation from September 18 if their demands are not met by then. Their demands include immediate announcement of republic, holding of election in fully proportional representation based election system, and holding of roundtable meeting to resolve Madhes issues, among others. nepalnews.com sd Sep 08 07
