Maoists having defeatist mentality: MK Nepal
CPN (UML) general secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal has said defeatist mentality is at work behind the latest Maoist demands and their warning to launch protest movement in the face of constituent assembly elections.
Addressing an assembly of UML youth wing, All Nepal Free Students Union, in the capital Tuesday, Nepal said the 22-point preconditions floated by the Maoists are not helpful for a smooth election process and that their latest manoeuvre only shows their defeatist mentality.
Nepal also scoffed at Maoist chairman Prachanda’s statement that his party was being entrapped from everywhere at the moment. “There is nothing like what Prachanda said. They need no worry so much,” Nepal said.
Alluding to the feelers coming from the Maoist side that the polls be deferred, the UML general secretary reminded the November 22 election date was not fixed on the advice of foreign power centres, but it was set by the eight parties themselves. nepalnews.com mk Sep 11 07
