Indian foreign secy arriving Saturday
Indian foreign secretary Shiv Shanker Menon is scheduled to arrive in Kathmandu on Saturday to discuss the current political situation here.
He will be accompanied by joint secretary Preeti Sharan. During his two-day stay in Kathmandu, Menon will hold meetings with
political leaders including Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala on
contemporary political deadlock and constituent assembly elections.
Menon and Sharan will also meet Home Minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula, Foreign Minister Sahana Pradhan, CPN-UML general secretary Madhav
Kumar Nepal and Nepali Congress (Democratic) president Sher Bahadur Deuba.
It is learnt that the uncontrolled security situation in Terai, bilateral cooperation and sealing of the borders during the polls
would also be discussed.
Menon's Nepal visit has been scheduled in the wake of increasing polarisation of the parties ahead of the CA polls. The eight-party unity has been losing
its strength as parties accuse each other for current political
uncertainly in the country. nepalnews.com ia Sep 14 07
