Anandidevi relieved of her position by Mahato-led NSP

The special convention of Nepal Sadbhavana Party (NSP-Anandidevi) led by Rajendra Mahato's faction has relieved Anandidevi Singh of her position of party chief on Friday.

The no-trust motion against Anandidevi Singh was passed by the closed session of the convention in Birgunj.

This was later informed by party spokesperson Sarita Giri. It was informed that 221 representatives of convention passed the motion unanimously.

The closed-door session of the convention also passed the new statute of the party that decreased the size of central committee from 63 to 41. Twenty of the central committee members will be elected directly through the convention while others will be nominated.

The party has proposed three regional and one national parliament in the new federal Nepal with three autonomous states – Mountains, Hills and Terai.

Mahato is expected to become new chief of the organisation.

Mahato faction proceeded with the convention even though Anandidevi Singh had announced its suspension. Mahato has claimed that 80 to 85 percent of party workers and leaders are with him.

Meanwhile, the faction of NSP led by Singh has termed Birgunj convention as illegitimate. They have promised to hold legitimate convention very soon. nepalnews.com sd Sep 14 07
