NSP-A appeals EC not to recognise Mahato faction
The ‘establishment’ of the Nepal Sadbhawana Party (Anandi Devi) has filed an application at the Election Commission on Sunday stating that the special convention held in Birgunj asking the latter not to recognise the Rajendra Mahato-led party.
The letter to the commission states that the special convention that has elected Commerce Minister Mahato as new president was undemocratic and against the party statute.
On Friday, the split faction had announced elected Mahato as the new president after expelling Anandi Devi Singh.
Meanwhile, the convention of Mahato of the NSP-A has concluded in Birgunj without electing the central committee members. According to the party statute, 20 out of 41 central committee members should be elected from the convention.
