Carter says he is very satisfied with the 'revolutionary election'

Former US President Jimmy Carter, in the course of observing a polling center in Patan constituency no. 3, termed today's election as a "revolutionary" one as it is taking place for the first time "after a long period of conflict".

The co-founder of the Carter Center, who is in Kathmandu on an election observation mission leading a 60-member team of international election observers, said that he saw a "high degree of enthusiasm" among the voters and added that the elections were largely "peaceful, orderly" and he was "very satisfied" with it.

Talking to media persons after observing the polling center, Carter said this was the 70th election he has observed so far around the world and that it was a "wonderful experience" for him and his team.

He is expected to visit at least 25 polling centers in Kathmandu today. nepalnews.com ag Apr 10 08
