Maoists leading in Lalitpur-3; NWPP likely to win both seats in Bhaktapur

Maoist candidate Pampha Bhusal is leading in the vote count in Lalitpur constituency-3 while Nepali Congress and the Maoist candidates are neck and neck in constituency 2.

In constituency-3, Bhusal has got 5542 votes to UML's Raghuji Panta's 3148 votes while in constituency-2 NC's Chandra Maharajan has got 5425 votes while his nearest rival Ram Kaji Maharjan of CPN-Maoist has received 5215 votes. UML's Siddhilal Singh is in third position in constituency-2 with 3812 votes.

Reports coming in say that Nepal Workers and Peasants Party (NWPP) is expected to "clean sweep" both constituencies in Bhaktapur district.

As of filing this news, NWPP chairman Narayan Man Bijukchhe was leading in Bhaktapur constituency-1 with 2019 votes while his nearest rival Devendra Shrestha of CPN-Maoist has got 1471 votes. Krishna Sundar Gho of UML is trailing behind with 993 votes in that constituency.

NWPP's Sunil Prajapati is leading in constituency no.2 with 3003 votes, but he is facing a tough fight from NC's Lekh Nath Neupane with 2334 votes. UML is not doing good in this constituency as well as their candidate Ganesh Bahadur Khatri has got 1447 votes only. nepalnews.com mk/ag Apr 11 08
