Pressure on NC not to join new govt
In line with the comments made by some of its top leaders, sister organisations of Nepali Congress (NC) have pressurised the party leadership not to join the new government to be led by Maoists.
An informal gathering of the sister organisations held in Kathmandu had concluded that it is morally wrong for NC to join the new government.
A delegation of the Nepal Trade Union Congress (Independent) led by union president Laxman Bahadur Basnet met with Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala, who is also the president of the party, Wednesday morning and handed over five-point recommendation to the party.
The recommendation states that the causes of NC failure in the polls are the activities of the Election Commission, lack of security during and ahead of the polls and absence of the stronger party mechanism at grass root level.
Koirala assured to take the recommendations for discussion in the central committee meeting of the party.
Many top leaders of the party have voiced that NC should not join the coalition government under the Maoist leadership.
On the eve of CA polls, the seven parties had vowed to continue the coalition and joint government even after the election. nepalnews.com ia Apr 23 08
