After the humiliating defeat in the recently held Constituent Assembly
(CA), Rastriya Janashakti Party (RJP)'s central committee meeting has
begun in the capital on Tuesday.
The RJP leaders are discussing the current political situation, party's
future course of action and the representation of party candidates in the
CA under the proportional electoral system.
"We are going to finalise the list of the winning candidates under
proportional representation (RP) system as the central committee must fix
the winners," said RJP president Surya Bahadur Thapa talking to the
reporters.
The RJP has obtained three seats under the PR system while it failed to
secure even a single seat under the first-past-the-post system. He said
that the RJP had to face humiliating defeat as the people could not use
their free conscience to cast vote.
Thapa said that political deadlock should be resolved as per the interim
constitution.
He described the ongoing debate on the leadership of the new government as
being premature. "It is meaningless to talk about the leadership of the
next government when the electoral process is yet to be finalised," he
said. nepalnews.com ps Apr 29 08
