VP oath issue is 'political in nature' than constitutional: Govt
Breaking its silence over the vice president taking oath in Hindi, the government on Sunday said that since the issue is of a political nature than a constitutional one, it is not entitled for a judicial review.
In a written reply to the show cause notice issued by the Supreme Court, Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers also said that the issue deserves to be scrapped on prima facie by the Supreme Court (SC). It also rues over Prime Minister being made a defendant in the case without any reason.
The Office further argued that as VP Jha also signed on the oath in the language specified in the Constitution, the court should not take up the issue.
The SC had issued show cause notice to the Prime Minister's Office and the Vice President taking up the writ petition filed by advocate Bal Krishna Neupane questioning the constitutionality of Vice President Paramananda Jha oath-taking in Hindi. nepalnews.com ag Aug 04 08
