Kamal Thapa accuses NC, UML of blocking formation of Maoist govt
The president of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP-Nepal) Kamal Thapa has accused Nepali Congress (NC) and Unified Marxist Leninist (UML) of blocking the formation of the Maoist-led government.
Addressing his party workers in Lalitpur, Tuesday, Thapa – who leads the only pro-monarchy party in the Constituent Assembly (CA) – said that the games played by 'forces within and outside the country particularly employing NC and UML' are responsible for the delay in the formation of government.
He accused the NC and UML of only paying lip service about their commitment to let the Maoists lead the government. "NC and UML have been confused after the Maoists became the largest party from the CA election," he said.
Thapa also termed the move by the president to call on the Maoists to form a government within a week as an 'unconstitutional.' None of the articles or provisions of the constitution allows president to exercise such power, he said.
Thapa said though his party was ideologically in the opposite pole compared with the Maoists, the two parties were close on the issue of nationalism. nepalnews.com sd Aug 06 08
