PM meets with leaders of smaller parties
Caretaker Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala has intensified his meetings with the smaller political parties represented at the constituent assembly even as bigger parties have reached an understanding to form a government of consensus.
On Wednesday morning, PM Koirala held meetings with leaders of the Terai Madhes Loktantrik Party (TMLP) and Sadbhawana Party at his official residence in Baluwatar.
After the meeting, TMLP leaders told media that PM Koirala asked them to review their earlier decision and join the new government to be formed with consensus.
In response, TMLP chairman Mahanta Thakur informed PM Koirala that the decision would be taken after looking at the common minimum programme and position of new government regarding the demands of terai-based parties.
Sadbhawana Party president Rajendra Mahato also had reached Baluwatar for the meeting. Koirala met them separately. Koirala is scheduled to hold meetings with other fringe parties Wednesday including CPN (ML) and Rastriya Parajatantra Party (RPP).
Koirala, on the occasion, also updated the leaders about his participation in 15th SAARC Summit in Colombo and bilateral meetings with leaders of other neighbouring countries. nepalnews.com ia Aug 06 08
