Tibetans to stage hunger strike
Some Tibetan refugees have decided to stage hunger strike in Kathmandu
from Thursday claiming human rights abuses in China.
According to Nepal Samacharpatra daily, the Tibetan Young Buddhist
Association organised a press meet, Wednesday, informing that they
would organise the strike to press China and to draw the attention of
international community towards 'injustice' in Tibet.
Their hunger strike is beginning even as the Beijing Olympics is set
to formally begin in China from Friday.
Meanwhile, reports say Nepalese authorities have decided to step up
security arrangement in the face of Tibetans' protests.
Likewise, the Kathmandu District Administration Office has imposed ban
on rallies and protests in a number of key public places including
areas around Chinese embassy effective from Thursday. nepalnews.com
