NFIN marks World Indigenous Day
Political party leaders and intellectuals from ethnic indigenous communities have emphasized that the basis of the federal state should be ethnicity, language, culture and region.
In a conference on state restructuring organized by Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NFIN) on the occasion of World Indigenous Day Wednesday, CPN (Maoist), UML and Nepali Congress leaders were seen unanimous on the basis of federalism.
Dr Krishna Bahadur Bhattachan, noted sociologist and a respected intellectual from the indigenous community, had also presented a paper in the conference.
Commenting on the working paper, CPN (Maoist) politburo member Dev Gurung, UML's Surendra Pandey and NC's Dhan Raj Gurung had reiterated that the basis of federal structure should be ethnicity, language and region. nepalnews.com ag Aug 07 08
