PM meets Gachchhadar; some NC leaders want Koirala to lead new govt
In his bid to form new government excluding the Maoists, Prime Minister of
the caretaker government Girija Prasad Koirala met Madhesi Janadhikar
Forum (MJF) leader Bijaya Kumar Gachchhadar Friday morning.
Gachchhadar, who is his party's parliamentary leader, reached PM's official
residence alone. Koirala be believed to have sought MJF's help in forming
the government under his leadership.
In the presidential elections, it was through Gachchhadar that Koirala is
said to have convinced the MJF top brass to vote for Dr Ram Baran Yadav.
Despite the four parties agreed on formation of the new government with
consensus among them, they failed to reach any agreement.
Meanwhile, Nepali Congress held the informal meeting of its central
working committee at Baluwatar this morning to discuss the agenda for the
meeting of the top leaders of four big parties scheduled for today.
Sources say that some NC leaders advised the party leadership not to
withdraw from its earlier stand if the Maoists are to lead the new
government. They also advised that Koirala should lead the new government
