Agitating Nepal One journos meet Indian ambassador
Agitating journalists of New Delhi-based 'Nepal 1' TV channel, who have been agitating for a month now met Indian ambassador Rakesh Sood, seeking the embassy's intervention to press for their demands pertaining to their demands including salary increment, appointment letters and regular payment of salary after the management.
"After listening to the representatives, it was explained to them that the matter was essentially a labour dispute between the management of the channel and its workers in which the Embassy or the Government of India have no role to play," a release issued by the embassy said.
It added, "However, out of respect for the sentiments of the agitating workers and their desire to seek help from the Embassy, they were told that their demands, which were understandably already with the management of the channel, will also be conveyed by the Embassy urging early resolution."
Last month, the agitating Nepal 1 staffers had padlocked the channel's Kathmandu office, demanding that its management meet their demands immediately. nepalnews.com Aug 11 08
