Miss Nepal rescheduled for August 23

The one-time deferred Miss Nepal 2008 beauty pageant has been rescheduled for August 23, delayed by two weeks due to protests.

The women bodies of the communist groups including the Maoists have been protesting the show alleging the organisers of portraying women as the means of entertainment.

The organizers, on Tuesday, said talks with the protesting groups are underway.

Miss Nepal Sitashma Chand said, "Most of the protestors think we are participating without much knowledge about the pageant, but that is not true. When we participate, we need to produce a no objection letter from our parents.
