"A couple of informal get together were organised in early 2006 and late 2006 which stimulated us to further explore the engineering community living in the UK. The first formal get-together in central London on 1st of December 200 turned to be a milestone in this direction by constituting an 18-member ad hoc committee of SONE, UK," he added.
He also informed that the ad hoc committee was working with the aim to finalise the constitution and register the organisation within this year.
Members of SONE including Ghanshyam Poudel and K K Shrestha advised regarding the constitution of the organisation while Top Lal Kadel and Narad Muni Bhandari suggested that SONE UK develop its own website that is informative and useful for the whole engineering community. Another member, Raj Kumar Tripathi, advised that Nepali engineers working in the UK should share their experiences with their colleagues back home and that suggestion should be provided to Nepal government in enforcing health and safety issues in construction projects.
Some 80 people including Nepali engineers and their families based in London and other parts of UK including Midlands, West England and South England took part in the get-together. The participants also took part in a number of entertaining sports including "ghaito futaune," other entertainment items and lucky-draw organised during the occasion. nepalnews.com Aug 20 08
