Koirala directs party leaders to prepare for strong opposition role
Nepali Congress (NC) president Girija Prasad Koirala has said his party will play the role of a strong opposition in the Constituent Assembly.
He said this during an informal meeting of the party's central working committee held at his Maharajgunj residence Wednesday. Koirala, who is set to be elected as the leader of the NC parliamentary party, also directed the party leaders to prepare for the opposition role.
NC leaders said the meeting also reviewed the defeat of the party's candidate in the recent prime ministerial election.
At the meeting, some leaders said the party should react more strongly to the 'decision' of the Maoist central committee to mobilise the People's Liberation Army (PLA), along with state's security agencies, for the security of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
