NAC to run under public-private partnership
The state-owned Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC), running under heavy debt since years, will now be turned into a public-private partnership company, if government decision goes smooth.
According to reports, the ministry of tourism has prepared a proposal to be submitted to the new cabinet for approval to turn the corporation into a company and float shares to the public.
The ministry plans to invite internal partners for investment to give a new life to the ailing corporation caused by continued political interference.
NAC has flight authority to about three dozen countries but at present, it is operating only to Hong Kong, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Dubai and New Delhi. nepalnews.com ia Aug 21 08
