Over five dozen leaders and cadres of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party Nepal
(RPP-N) are preparing to defect their party to join Rastriya Prajatantra
Party (RPP).
The defectors include former president of the party Rabindra Nath Sharma
and another influential leader Rajeshwor Devkota. They have accused party
president Kamal Thapa, who was home minister during the direct rule of
then King Gyanendra, of being speaking in favour of CPN (Maoist).
Thapa, in the recent days, had been advocating in favour of Maoists
alleging Nepali Congress of putting hindrance in the process of forming
the new government. His party voted for Pushpa Kamal Dahal during the
election of prime minister but it had boycotted the presidential election.
RPP-N was the only party to support constitutional monarchy during the
constituent assembly elections.
RPP leaders have also confirmed that the defectors will join their party
for which the party will organise a formal function later today to welcome
them. nepalnews.com ia Aug 21 08
